Dr. Bob's Story:

I am an acupuncturist, a massage therapist, and teacher. I specialize in pain relief and non-addictive pain management options, and in June 2013 became certified in sports medicine acupuncture.

I came to acupuncture and Chinese medicine by necessity. In 1988, I was given a diagnosis of severe pancreatitis and anemia with a very poor prognosis by my doctors and oncologist. Looking to improve my own health I was given acupuncture 2-3 times per week for several years through the Yee Sing Martial Arts school in Akron, Ohio. Extraordinary people saved me. I was instructed in Qigong, healing health exercises, and learned the Soaring Crane form from Madam Wong. I was told it would take 3 years to heal myself through acupuncture and daily Qigong practice. It is through these practices that I survived my life threatening illness. I now teach these health-enhancing exercises. I consider teaching to be an attempt to repay the debt I owe for the privilege of being here.

Facilitating injury recovery and rehabilitation has been a large part of my practice. Seeing someone recover from tragedy and return to what they love is both a gift and honor. Several conditions can often be addressed at the same time with a synergistic effect. Some patients may also benefit from herbal medicine, or certain exercises and stretches that may aid in recovery. I have a pragmatic approach combining modalities when appropriate.

Acupuncture sports medicine and massage enhances athletic performance of the individual and allows for a higher level of competition. It is gratifying to help a client excel past their expectations, unleashing their potential that had been limited by various causes.

My involvement with cosmetic acupuncture began with a young woman with one drooping eyelid which had bothered her most of her life. Through acupuncture treatments her eyelid is now correctly aligned and lifted only needing to be refreshed about once per year. I really enjoy exploring the various non-surgical rejuvenation options available for my patients to improve their health from within. Optimum health, optimum beauty!

In my practice I try to address the most pressing issue first and foremost, but also try to address any other issues that may be of concern, Many times improving more than one issue per treatment. My philosophy's comprehensive care rather than just symptomatic relief.
